A Polymer-Infiltrated Ceramic as Base Adherent in an Experimental Specimen Model to Test the Shear Bond Strength of CAD-CAM Monolithic Ceramics Used in Resin-Bonded Dental Bridges

Traditional load-to-failure tests fail to recreate clinical failures of all-ceramic restorations. Experimental fabrication, similar prosthetic laboratory and procedures, best predicts future performance. A hybrid ceramic adherend, mechanically a human tooth, was tested by comparing the shear bond strength (SBS) fracture mode four restorative materials adhered with dual-cure adhesive cement. Surface energy, (SBS), were assessed. Vita Enamic (ENA), Suprinity (SUP), Y-TPZ (Y-ZT), nanohybrid composite (RES) (control group) cylinders, RelyX Ultimate ENA blocks assembled in experimental specimens simulating 3-unit resin-bonded dental bridge. The adherend ground or treated 5% hydrofluoric acid for 60 s. Monobond Plus used as coupling agent. Mean stress (MPa) calculated each group. Forest plots material elaborated after calculating difference means effect size (α = 0.05; 95% CI; Z-value 1.96) revealed significant differences force behavior between (p < 0.01). RES (69.10 ± 24.58 MPa) > (18.38 8.51 SUP (11.44 4.04 Y-ZT (18.48 12.12 MPa). exhibited pre-test failures. SBS not related surface energy. failure group material-dependent exclusively adhesive. is potential tests. In this design, it withstood 103 MPa before cohesive failure.
